I have not been happy with general customer service at TelstraI have had many dealings recently with Telstra I t has taken many phone calls and transferring to up to 6 different departments to get my problem addressed all unsuccessful
Never found too many reasons for complaint.Still have the best available mobile coverage.
All I can say is more competition please??????????????We have reported them to the telecommunication ombudsman and I know for a fact that we are not alone! The hours of frustration have caused alot of disharmony in our usually calm household. I could go on however will not waste any more time! Life is too short!
Useless, they make promises and then waste your time because they have no intention of following through.Promised a connection 18 months ago and gave me the run around for a month with every excuse under the sun why the connection wasnt happening. All they could have told us at the start that there was no room at the box on the street and they were waiting for one to be come available.
In regional area Telstra has a monopoly on internet services and yet will not be competitive on price. Customers are being ripped off.Other service providers can give far more product for a lot less money than telstra, but when there is not the coverage in the country areas, we are stuck with expensive product from Telstra. This is not fair.

Telstra is the most disliked company in Australia, because it doesn't know how to look after customers.None of my contacts with Telstra have been positive. Once it kept me waiting six weeks to repair a fault, because I was with another carrier, but in the end it was discovered that the fault was caused by Telstra incompetence.
some bad experiences with Telstratheir billing system is awful
very dismal experience and don't know why i went back.i called over three weeks ago to question my combined home phone/internet/foxtel account. they promised to return my call within the hour. i have not yet had any call from them. they have all my phone numbers (mobile, home and work) and all three have message bank active and all three have caller id active - i have no message or missed calls. why did i go back after being away for so long???? because they scam you with their package deals and then don't follow through with any customer service. and dealing with non english speaking telephone operators who read directly off scripts is even more annoying.
Customer Service from hell!Changed address more than once, accounts sent to a wrong address for 6 months, started at $100 and finished at $500 with fees added! Telstra did not want to know about it.

Tried phoning several times to get incorrect listing removed from 'whitepages!They moved our home phone address, but not mobile. White pages say we have to talk to Telstra, Telstra say OK, then it never happens.
very sadOne would never have seen a bad review for this company and we were the worlds best then it was stripped apart and it is now dismal. If I were living near the city I would change in a heartbeat. Telstra is the only service to get country reception

It annoys me beyond belief that I can't speek to someone who speeks correct English and often can't answer my questions.I don't have half an hour to sit on the phone to resolve a problem, surely issues can be resolved face to face at Telstra stores?
Dealing with Telstra is frustrating on the phone as all the call centres seem to have foreign customer service operators who do not usually understand what you are asking and transfer you to other departments which can not help you either so a simple query can take a long time and you still end up with no answers often...Local Telstra shop is always too busy and can be left standing in line for an hour or more at a time

It was sad to have to change from the one supplier I have ever dealt with, but they have changed considerably and are not the kind caring people they used to be.Nasty people on the line that if they cant answer you it appears you get transfered to someone else and then ironically the line goes dead. Been with them for almost 30yrs, sometimes im happy with them other times I hate them, but like they say "Better the devil you know then the one you don't"Hate how you never seem to get a person who speaks good English when you ring with a complaint this just makes you more angry as they don't understand English.
Terrible, long phone delays or they cut you off. Never fix a problem and then they send out confusing mail in the post about something they should have fixed/changed and its still the same! Online enquiries never get dealt with eitherGood mobile reception is their only saving grace!
Totally frustrating so-called customer serviceTo solve an issue really takes it out of the customer - no action, mis-information, long wait times and then often repeat requests (and explaining all over again) to have the problem solved
If you have an option take it.Poor service, incredible mistakes with billing, no wonder we changed as soon as there was a choice. Telstra has been trying to win us back for years. It never will. There are other providers out there who use the Telstra network so you do not have to compromise on coverage.
Just because the service is advertised as better than the rest, doesnt mean it is!If you have no choice then welcome to the world of overpriced and still government funded phone and internet access. Being in 24/7 contact is over-rated anyway just like this carrier.

Good when you lower your expectations.When you consider the different areas that Telstra impacts on your life, it would be really really difficult to be a fantastic customer service company. Yes I understand that economically they have to use call centres offshore to make it viable so lower your expectations on having to be a little bit more paitent when language difficulties arise. I always find that the more courtious you are to the support staff the more support you actually get.
CAN WAIT ON LINE FOR MINUTES ON ENDok service but some of the call desk staff have no idea how to do things
I have found Telstra to treat the customer as an account not an individual with a desire for good service.The service of the system with mobile use works well for me. The home phone works well for me. The problem I have is the internet. I signed up over 10 years ago on an unlimited download plan. Telstra tried for years to convince us to change plans as we were on a good thing, but we liked the unlimited download. One day we received a letter stating our connection speed would increase, great. Recently I checked my account after receiving notification for the first time that our downlaod capacity had almost been reached. I found that we had been moved to a limited download plan without our consent. Still attempting to get answers here.

Exceptional service solving a problem.I recently exeeded my usage allowance. Telstra frixed the problem by immediately giving me a 2GB usage load and within 48 hours increasing my usage allowance to 50Gigs which overcame the problem. All soughted out over the phone with their customer service people in the phillipines. That is why I stay with Telstra / bigpond.
Telstra's fine until you have a problem.Try getting an unusual issue/problem resolved by Telstra. I can guarantee that you will be tossed from pillar to post and end-up talking to somebody offshore who may/may not understand your problem. If you persevere you will probably find a solution, but don't bet on it!

Very averagesold me a phone that I couldnt use and now i'm stuck with a 2 yr contract and had to get a vodafone phone that i can use

Dont rest on your laurels TelstraSince Telstra outsourced its callcentre staff to India, their service has gone from average to bad. Most of the time the staff are not able to think outside of the square and have thick accents. Not meaning to be racist here just that the average Australia is not used to these accents and therefore communication can be difficult. This is particularly true of older customers, like my mother, who finds it hard to understand the customer service staff.
Telstra have me stitched upHonestly, I am an adult so make my own decisions, but when you go to a Telco for help, and they advise products that will keep your costs down, and the reverse happens, I cannot help but be bitter. I would not recommend Telstra to my worst enemy. I am disgusted about them as a company, and as soon as my contract expires I am out of there.

Overpriced for what you get.Telstra are so hard to deal with. Mainly because if you have a problem...no matter how simple this problem may be..its so hard to get it sorted out as when you call and finally gt to speak to someone then its someone that does not have a full understanding of english or they have such a strong accent that you cant understand them.
Not good.Something always goes wrong and getting it fixed is nearly impossible. I have to ring them today to get a problem fixed. This will be the third call this week. NOT HAPPY!

I am always looking for the best deal on Mobiles as I like to keep up to date. There are cheaper plans out there but at the end of the day I like the all round package you get from Telstra. A nightmare to deal withAlmost three years ago I changed from Telstra because their prices were not value for money in my opinion. When I got my first computer they advised me to sign up for a plan with 120mb plan when my usage was actually 2mb!!
Best of the Worst!We have a package, which includes internet, phone calls and tv. for the area we live in Telstra really is the best of the worst. Faster internet would be great.

crappiest service i ever received.Dont believe them when they said they will give you good customer service because they dont. Earlier this year when we purchased our business we need to do a telephone line transfer from the old owner into us. Such a simple process took them two weeks to get it done. In between I made endless phone calls to try to get the matter sorted and everytime i have to wait for at least 15 minutes before getting connected to the operator. DIfferent operator would tell me different procedures and different story. Eventually this was processed but I am very unhappy with their services. If i can i will avoid monopoly company like this one. poor service, unprofessional staff, long waiting time on the phone, disappointing company.
Disappointed with sales staff.I am in the over 50's age bracket I have walked into our local Telstra shop on many occassions only to be overlooked by the 20 something sales staff for the younger customers.
Great staff in Telstra shop but awful after sales customer service from call centres.I'm always happy with the staff service in Telstra shop (except having to wait when they are busy) but am totally dissapointed in any after sales experience when having to phone call centres. Appalling service, staff that don't understand what your saying, no follow up, things not fixed when asked, lack of care.
Not the best out there!I'm actually with Telstra now. This box isn't big enough for me list all the problems I've had with Telstra since signing up. Slow internet. Expensive services and long wait times with customer service. Shop around before you choose telstra.
annoying that you have to stand in a queue for an hour and then be told you will have to come back when the technician is therewhat annoys me more than anything (along with everyone italk to is that 9 times out of 10 you cannot understand them because of their accents and then they get annoyed with us!!!!!
I have never been so disappointed in a telecommincations provider as I have been with TelstraI have had some bad experiences with Telstra and don't believe that I will ever return to them. I just say to anyone wanting to go with Telstra make sure you do your homework and keep an eye on everything - each to their own.
Always there when you need them.Ive been with Telstra for many years. Ive tried other companies but always return to Telstra. They have a good product and can get service in most places. I'm not so keen with their off-shore communications centre but they are keen to help in every instance.

Very difficult to deal with.Telstra needs to give a more personalised service. Hard to contact, hard to deal with, hate the computerised voice as you have to repeat everything.
Staff lie to get you to sign up!!!I was approached by a Telstra consultant and shown a great deal. He put all these freebies in the deal and said it would take 10-14days to be transfered over. It took 4 1/2 months, then none of the freebies were included, the price was different and i was locked in for 2 years. I was told that because the guy i signed up with was not from a Telstra store, he was a Telstra Rep, there was nothing i could do. They did give me some of the freebies that i was promised but now i am stuck in a deal that is over priced for what we need and we have another 15months locked in.
Still the leading provider.I have used Telstra from day one for my mobile service as well as for internet and land-line. I still feel that this Telco provides the best all round telecomunications service in the Country.
Good product and price but service is poor.My complaints re a faulty handset was passed through several departments and to this day, isnt fixed. I've given up trying to get the problem solved because it's not worth the effort and time on the phone talking to several people.

Surprisingly FabulousHad an incident a few weeks ago where I forgot to pay our bill (baby brain still). Cut off... so phoned from prepaid mobile and spoke to wonderful gentleman who reconnected straight away when I told him I'd pay (which I did once I had internet again). I was surprised at the wonderful understanding and being given the benefit of the doubt that yes I would pay and that they reconnected us straight away. V happy.
Slow, over-priced broadbandI was with Telstra on a 2Yr contract. My cable Internet was never particularly fast and sometimes down right excruciatingly slow.
The worst thing about Telstra is trying to contact them when you have a problem.Recently had a problem which took 3 hours of frustrating time on the phone to sort it out.Was rectified in the end but I lost nearly half a days production sorting out what was there problems.Not good for a small businessman.
SLACK!Two phones and home phone on contract in the past! did not honor warranty when phones just happen to stop working months before contract was up!
They are really reliable, but costlyI have found that they are more reliable. Customer service isn't too great and you will get an overseas person try to help...which you can't understand and don't like it when you ask to talk to an australian. They are also not the cheapest around.

I have a home phone. broadband and mobile bundle with Telstra.I have had a home phone, bigpond broadband and mobile bundle with Telstra. Once you have clarified all your entitlements you can operate effective communications with them. Too often there are errors and miscommunications with the corporate body and it does take some effort to get problems resolved.
Telstra is the way to go.Now have computer they and BigPond gave me a very good deal, so very happy with the company.
Telstra offers us all the communication we need for a competative price.We live in the country and we have full mobile phone coverage as well as Skype, bigpond and landline. No complaints with me.

I have been with Telstra for 15 years, with few complaints and excellent service.Unfortunately Telstra is the one everybody loves to hate. The classic Tall Poppy. I can not fault Telstra. Service, response to questions, internet speed or mobile phone coverage, it is all good as far as I am concerned. Telstra's technology surpasses all others, including NBN, which will be obsolete before it is finished.

Can't get broadband, can't get a decent deal, and can't get help when i need it.Telstra says that to get broadband, I have to pay hundreds of dollars to upgrade their wires, then i have to pay rent monthly to use the wire that I would pay to have installed.
Frustrating when things go wrong.There seems to be NO communication between different departments in Telstra.Recently, we were charged for dial-up that haven't used for years. I rang Telstra and they disconnected dial-up plus ADSL as well. Five days without email, with sderiuosly ill Mother.When finally connected, still had to ring several times to get it to 'work'.TELSTRA SHOULD GIVE WARNING, OR DO SOMETHING TO PREVENT THIS SITUATION ARISING FOR OTHERS.

Good home phone but mixed feelings about mobile service.I get very good fixed line service and can not complain about this. They were extremely helpful when I had a recent line failure.
This review is on pre-paid mobile.I find Telstra pre-paid mobile good for coverage and easy to manage online with numerous plan choices and capability of sending text via my computer. I'm a very low user spending less than $10/month.
Unfair pricingVery disappointed with telstra. Bills seem to constantly be higher than the agreed plan with hidden fees when I hardly use my phone at all.
Telstra could be doing more to make their service user friendlyTelstra may be the leading telecommunications company, but their service can often be very impersonal, taking time to resolve problems, needing customers to speak to consultants who are difficult to understand and giving instructions which are not always easy to follow.
Bring back the jobs to Australia, we owe India nothingI do not like talking to their call centres in India appart from not being able to understand them they do not & cannot fix problems
